Kristen Scott | Rise and Shine

Artist: Kristen Scott, Washington
Materials: fine silver, sterling silver, 24 ct gold, citrine
Size: 9.75

Artist Statement: The beginning of a new year naturally brings up ideas of birth and renewal. How do you capture that feeling in a ring? So many ideas, but in the end cutting dynamically into a hollow form box layered with fused gold and scribed lines, peeling back the surface to partially reveal a tube set faceted stone (the sun?) rising yet again, formed this entry. Every year brings new ideas, new things to learn and new challenges--this ring is no exception.

Artist Bio: I am a Seattle born architect-turned-metalworker in my free time. In jewelry design, the memory of a place and the emotion it evokes has become my focus. I'm inspired by what I see in the world, creating pieces that echo the shadow pattern of leaves, fog in the nighttime sky, or the joy found in a beautiful sunrise. My pieces are handcrafted, they have patina made through layers of color and texture just as the world is composed of change over time.
